U.S. Marshals have doubled the reward for Virginia rapper 23 Brazy who is wanted for killing a 10-year-old boy in the City of Franklin.
23 Brazy’s legal name is Tashawnda Nicole Drayton, and the 24-year-old is currently facing at least nine charges, including :
- First Degree Murder
- Attempted First-Degree Murder
- Aggravated Malicious Wounding
- Shooting Into Occupied Dwelling (x2),
- Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony
- Threat to Burn or Damage Building
- Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
- Discharge a Firearm in a Public Place.
On August 9, at around 3 p.m. calls came into Franklin’s 911 center reporting a shooting in the 300 block of Artis Street. Two gunshot victims were found at different residences, Franklin PD reported. One victim was a 37-year-old man and the other a 10-year-old boy. Neither has been named.
Both were deemed to have life-threatening issues at that time. Both were transported for hospital treatment. Ultimately, the man survived, but the child died.
Franklin Police said their investigation revealed that four people came the 37-year-old’s home. There was an altercation, and 23 Brazy pulled out a gun and started shooting. The child’s relative scooped him up and ran, which is why the child was at a different location when first responders arrived, police explained.
“This is a very sad day for the City of Franklin. Any loss of life is unwarranted but for a 10-year-old to be the victim of violent crime is unacceptable and we as a community must come together and end this senselessness,” Franklin Polce Chief said in a statement after the incident.
The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force is appealing to the public for help.
Franklin Police and U.S. Marshals describe Drayton as armed and dangerous.
She stands 5 feet 11 inches and weighs approximately 250 pounds. She has “only loyalty” tattooed above her left eyebrow, “23 Brazy” in red letters on her forehead, along with several tattoos on her face and neck. Drayton also has multiple tattoos on both of her arms and hands, the U.S. Marshal Service said.
They add that Drayton has ties all over Hampton Roads.
Meanwhile, Franklin Police said there is an active investigation underway into the other people who came to the Artis Street home on the day of the incident.
